VIETNAM OFFICIALLY OPERATES AGRICULTURAL TRACEABILITY SYSTEM: A MILESTONE FOR TRANSPARENCY

In a market increasingly demanding regarding quality and transparency, on December 26, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development officially launched the Vietnam Agricultural Traceability System. This is considered the "golden key" to asserting the position of Vietnamese agricultural products and protecting consumer rights.

1. Digitalizing the Process – Transparent Product Journey

This new system is more than just a management tool; it serves as a direct information bridge between producers and customers. Through electronic authentication QR codes, the entire "life cycle" of a product is displayed transparently:

Clear Origin: Information on growing area codes and packing facilities.
Journey Log: Details from harvest date and warehousing processes to the distribution unit.
Fraud Prevention: Preventing counterfeit and low-quality goods from being mislabeled as clean agricultural products.

2. Implementation Roadmap

According to the Ministry's plan, the system will operate in three strategic phases:

Phase 1 (From Jan 1, 2026): Piloting on Durian with the participation of leading export enterprises.
Phase 2 (From July 1, 2026): Official operation and expansion to other essential agricultural product groups.
Phase 3 (From July 1, 2027): Mandatory application for all domestic and exported agricultural products, with a pilot program for imported goods.
