Prime Minister proposes Vietnam to boost agricultural exports to Egypt.

On the morning of November 23, in South Africa, continuing activities at the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The two sides expressed pleasure that the two countries had upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership during the recent State visit of President Luong Cuong to Egypt in August 2025, and agreed to soon finalize the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Egypt Comprehensive Partnership framework.
Determined to raise the bilateral trade turnover to 1 billion USD, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the two sides soon organize a joint working group for a feasibility study on a Vietnam-Egypt FTA, establish a Vietnam-Egypt Business Council, promote negotiations, and soon sign a double taxation avoidance agreement; strengthen investment cooperation, and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to participate in projects for developing Egypt's new administrative and urban areas, and conduct business operations in Egypt.
The Prime Minister proposed that the two sides strengthen agricultural cooperation, including exporting agricultural products for local production and export; and soon complete procedures for opening the market for Egyptian products such as potatoes, dates, and pomegranates to enter Vietnam; and for Vietnamese products such as rice, litchi, and dragon fruit to be exported to Egypt.

The Egyptian Prime Minister expressed admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and trade turnover growth; highly agreed with the cooperation proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and proposed that the two sides coordinate to soon establish an Action Plan to promote concrete progress in trade cooperation commensurate with the potential and relationship between the two countries.
The Egyptian Prime Minister welcomed and suggested that Vietnamese enterprises expand market surveys and invest in Egypt, especially in the fields of telecommunications, infrastructure, and artificial intelligence, expressing a desire to connect with the potential ASEAN market through cooperation with a dynamic economy like Vietnam.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly proposed that the two sides effectively coordinate the implementation of the Letter of Intent on promoting defense cooperation recently signed during President Luong Cuong's visit to Egypt, and initially invited Vietnam to send a delegation to attend the international defense exhibition in Cairo, Egypt in December 2026.
