Gia Lai Advances New Rural Development – Gia Lai Agricultural Products Reach New Heights

The New Rural Development Program (NRD) in Gia Lai Province has achieved positive results in recent years. The rural landscape across localities has seen significant improvements, and the socio-economic development of rural areas has progressed comprehensively.

The achievements of the New Rural Development (NRD) program have significantly transformed the rural landscape, as infrastructure and public facilities have been uniformly invested in, becoming more spacious, modern, and well-equipped. Numerous effective economic development models have been established, helping increase incomes and improve the living standards of local residents.

Notably, advanced and model NRD communes have created bright, green, clean, and beautiful environments; preserved traditional cultural identities; and integrated digital technologies into management, production, and daily life. These efforts help narrow the gap between rural and urban areas and enhance the overall quality of life for rural communities.

Developing rural commercial infrastructure is one of the 19 criteria in the national standards for NRD and advanced NRD communes for the 2021–2025 period. To effectively implement this criterion, Gia Lai Province has mobilized multiple resources to invest in commercial infrastructure, meeting the consumption and business needs of residents and creating momentum for rural socio-economic development.

The province currently has a network of markets, supermarkets, convenience stores, and fuel–gas retail shops that have been established and put into operation, enabling rural commercial infrastructure to effectively meet residents’ trading and purchasing needs. As a result, many communes across the province have now met Criterion No. 7 on rural commercial infrastructure under the national NRD standards.

Aligned with the national New Rural Development program, the “One Commune, One Product” (OCOP) initiative in Gia Lai has undergone a remarkable transformation—from small, fragmented production to sustainable value-chain development. The province now has hundreds of OCOP-certified products, including many signature agricultural products of Gia Lai. Enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities have invested in raw-material areas, processing technologies, and marketing strategies to enhance product value.

Beyond creating distinctive agricultural products, many OCOP items have gradually established strong brand identities in both domestic and international markets. In particular, agricultural enterprises from Gia Lai have also participated in these value chains, bringing products from the farm to consumers’ tables with increasingly high quality and credibility. Provincial departments and sectors regularly support promotion and trade facilitation activities, encouraging enterprises, cooperatives, and producers to join fairs, e-commerce platforms, and product distribution channels.

E-commerce has experienced strong growth, with a wide range of signature products such as coffee, pepper, honey, and macadamia nuts—along with OCOP products, Gia Lai agricultural goods, and brands like Hoang Minh Agricultural Products—being introduced on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and TikTok Shop. This helps reduce intermediaries, connect producers directly with consumers, and optimize value chains in the marketplace. E-commerce is not only a new sales channel but also a comprehensive digital transformation tool for agricultural production chains, covering packaging, transportation, customer service, and brand management.

In particular, to make e-commerce an effective export tool, Gia Lai Province has strengthened digital-skills training, supported the development of planting-area codes, traceability systems, and international trademark registration for businesses. These efforts help bring OCOP products and the province’s deeply processed agricultural goods—including those of Hoang Minh Agricultural Products and other enterprises—to international markets.

The consolidation and implementation of a two-level government model (provincial and communal), along with administrative restructuring and streamlining, have created new opportunities and momentum for Gia Lai’s New Rural Development efforts. Accordingly, during the 2025–2030 period, Gia Lai aims to develop rural areas toward ecological agriculture, modern rural communities, and civilized farmers aligned with urbanization; preserve traditional culture; narrow regional and rural-urban gaps; promote rural economic development; improve cooperative performance; support enterprises and cooperatives in innovation and start-ups; and further advance the OCOP program—elevating Gia Lai’s agricultural brands within national and global value chains.

With the spirit of “Solidarity – Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development,” Gia Lai enters the 2025–2030 period with the ambition of building comprehensive, green, clean, beautiful, cultured, and distinctive rural areas. The New Rural Development movement will continue to spread across all communes and communities, motivating residents to join hands in economic development, environmental protection, and cultural enrichment. Gia Lai Province is determined to build a prosperous rural region with a transformed appearance in this new era.
